Livewell operation

Fishing a tournament in the next week or so and have a couple questions about the livewell. Can I use just the back livewell with out filling the front baitwell? Do I need a plug for this? If so what size do I need? Will the water circulate enough in the livewell or should I buy an external aerator? Is there an operation guide for it anywhere?
